MV Wakashio Assistance and Support Cell

Survey on Business Loans and Leases

Following the MV Wakashio oil-spill which has led to ecological, economic and social impact in the south-east region, Government has set up the MV Wakashio Assistance and Support Cell under the National Social Inclusion Foundation (NSIF) and chaired by Mr. Charles Cartier.

After several face to face meetings with stakeholders as well as sight visits in the South East region, the Cell has proposed a package of measures which are being implemented to support economic operators including:

  • Payment of a solidarity grant
  • Payment of a business continuity grant
  • Waiving of administrative fees

The Cell invites operators in the South East region to participate in an online Survey on Business Loans and Leases in view of considering further assistance to businesses having difficulties to repay their loans and/or leases as a consequence of their activities being impacted by the MV Wakashio oil spill.

All information collected shall be kept strictly confidential. Findings of the survey shall be used solely for the purpose of informing policy decisions in respect of relevant assistance to be provided to affected businesses.

Participation to the Survey is open until Monday 11 January 2021.
